February is all about love so it seems like the right time to time to talk about the quiet kind, the kind we see every day with our dogs.

Lagotti don’t fuss or demand attention all the time. Instead they form strong, steady bonds. Their way of loving is calm, loyal and constant.

If Lagotti had a love language this is probably what it would look like.

Spending time together.

Lagotti enjoy being part of whatever you’re doing. Whether it’s resting at your feet while you work, wandering into the next room out of curiosity or settling nearby in the evening, they like to share space with their people. It’s not about needing constant attention, they’re perfectly capable of relaxing on their own but they do value being included in daily life. That quiet companionship is a big part of their charm.

Working together.

For this breed sharing a job builds a real connection. When we’re out truffle hunting it’s not just about what they find. It’s about the partnership. The trust. The way dog and handler learn to read each other without saying a word. That shared purpose creates something solid.

Switching off together.

At the end of the day they’re more than happy to curl up and relax. A quiet lean into your leg. A head resting on your knee. They don’t need to make a big fuss they just want to be part of it. And if we’re honest Lagotto cuddles really are some of the best. There’s something about a tired, content Lagotto curled up beside you that’s hard to beat.

That’s something we really value about the breed. They can work hard and focus when it matters but they’re also gentle, affectionate family dogs.
