Ceasar

January is Ceasar’s birthday so it felt like the perfect time to shine a light on one of Trufflemen’s true originals. He turns six this month and has been a constant and trusted presence in our truffle seasons for many years.

Ceasar comes from strong Italian bloodlines but what really defines him is his nature. He’s a solid and confident dog, steady, reliable and easy to live with and always keen to get out and work.

When it comes to truffle hunting Ceasar is very much our top dog. He genuinely loves being out exploring new ground, nose down and fully focused. His consistency and reliability are second to none and that’s why we trust him so completely. Truffle hunting clearly makes him happy and that enthusiasm shows every time he’s working.

What really sets Ceasar apart is his experience. Over the years he’s developed an intuitive understanding of the land, moving with confidence and purpose in all kinds of conditions. He doesn’t rush, doesn’t get flustered. His ability to remain calm and focused in all environments sets the tone for the rest of the team and reminds us just how valuable experience can be.

Ceasar’s balanced character is just as evident in how he works with others. He gets on equally well with both male and female dogs, never needing to dominate or compete. Calm and respectful by nature he reads situations well and adjusts easily helping to keep the whole team settled and focused. That confidence makes him a natural stabilising presence a dog others seem to trust instinctively.

Once the day is done Ceasar switches gears effortlessly. At home he’s calm, affectionate and usually found curled up on the sofa, enjoying a cuddle and a well earned rest. He’s just as content relaxing with us as he is working in the woods.

That balance is what makes Ceasar so special. He works hard but he’s also a proper family dog. He’s one of those dogs you don’t forget and we feel very lucky to have him as part of the Trufflemen team.

As he turns six this January we’re grateful for everything Ceasar brings to Trufflemen and we’re looking forward to many more seasons together both in the woods and on the sofa.
