As the year draws to a close we’re delighted to share the very first edition of Trufflemen Tales. A space where we reflect on life at Trufflemen, the seasons behind us and the people and dogs who make it all so special.
This first edition looks back on a year filled with truffles, sunshine, new beginnings and a wonderful sense of community.
A Standout Truffle Hunting Season
This year’s truffle hunting season has been one of our most successful to date. With favourable conditions and many hours spent out on the land we were rewarded with some truly special finds. There’s something deeply rewarding about those quiet mornings and steady days, working alongside the dogs and trusting their remarkable instincts. It’s a way of life we feel incredibly lucky to live and one we’re proud to share.
Welcoming Rio to the Gang
One of the biggest highlights of the year was welcoming a new member to the Trufflemen gang. Born earlier this year Rio has already shown exceptional promise and has managed to master truffle hunting in an impressively short time. Watching her grow in confidence and ability has been an absolute joy and she’s brought a fresh burst of energy and enthusiasm to every day out in the field.
Sunshine, Sea Air and Slower Days
Away from the truffle grounds we made the most of a beautiful summer and a particularly lovely autumn. Long walks, beach days and time spent by the sea reminded us of the importance of slowing down and enjoying the rhythm of the seasons. These moments help keep us grounded and inspired, ready for the busy months ahead.
Meeting People and Sharing the Breed
One of the most rewarding parts of this year has been connecting with families who came to visit us, meet the dogs and learn more about the Lagotto breed. Spending time together, answering questions and sharing our experiences has been a real pleasure. We love introducing people to these wonderful dogs and helping others understand what makes the Lagotto such a special and versatile breed.
Teaching About Truffle Hunting
Alongside teaching people about the breed, we’ve also really enjoyed sharing our knowledge and passion for truffle hunting. Showing how the dogs work, explaining the training process and talking about life on the land has been a highlight for us. It’s always a joy to see people’s curiosity and excitement grow as they learn more about this unique partnership between dog, handler and nature.
Land Surveying and New Discoveries
This year we’ve also very much enjoyed the land surveying we’ve carried out which has given us the opportunity to explore new areas and landscapes. These days spent walking new ground have allowed us to deepen our understanding of the land, assess its potential and just as importantly meet new people along the way. Building these connections and discovering unfamiliar places has been a rewarding part of the journey and something we’re excited to continue in the year ahead.
Our Trufflemen Families
We’ve been incredibly grateful for all the updates we’ve received from our Trufflemen Families throughout the year. We truly love seeing your messages, photos and stories and it means so much to watch your dogs out and about, enjoying life and thriving with you. Staying connected in this way is something we really treasure.
Happy New Year!
As the year comes to a close, we are reflecting on a wonderful Christmas just passed, cosy days, good food, great company and as always the dogs close by. Thank you for being part of the Trufflemen journey and for helping make this year such a truly memorable one. Here's to many more tales, adventures and truffles in the year ahead.
